About iSTEAM

The conduct of the International Science, Technology, Engineering, Agri-Fisheries and Mathematics (ISTEAM) Research Congress is part of the Eastern Visayas State University’s commitment to raise the bar of research excellence in the academe and contribute significantly to the explosion of knowledge. It is an annual gathering of researchers, experts and students from the different regions of the Philippines and abroad.

The International STEAM Research Congress is the brainchild of the EVSU president Dr. Dominador O. Aguirre, Jr. Dr. Aguirre invited Academician Alvin B. Culaba, professor of the Mechanical Engineering Department of De La Salle University, Manila and an alumnus of the Leyte Institute of Technology (now EVSU) as one of the plenary speakers. Academician Culaba requested the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhilAAST) as a co-sponsor of the Congress. With the technical assistance of the College of Engineering under the leadership of its dean, Dr. Danilo Pulma, and the Office of Research and Development and Extension (ORDEx) under the stewardship of Vice-President for Research and Development and Extension Dr. Felixberto E. Avestruz, and other members of the University academic community, the first International STEAM Research Congress was born.
